OORJA is the annual inter-school three-pronged sports, literary, and cultural extravaganza of St Paul’s PU College, Belgaum. With a footfall of more than 2000, OORJA is one of the largest of its kind in Belgaum to be organized entirely and managed by the students. Energetic participants from almost 50 major schools of the city throng to St Paul’s PU for a 6-day celebration of energy, fun and frolic. OORJA will be the 3rd edition of the fest and is happening from 23rd to 28th of November 2022.
OORJA conducts a multitude of events encompassing 11 genres and more than 21 events are contested among the best in Belgaum. As always, boatload of new events is here to tickle your senses and bring out the hidden talent in you. These events aim to provide a battlefield for the best of the best and also to have the participants experience the energetic time of their lives. The cultural extravaganza will be inaugurated by Dr Rajesh Pawar, the Vice-Principal, JNMC, Belgaum on 24th November 2022 at 10:30 am.
Football fever is peaking as the Jacob memorial Tournament kicks off at St Paul’s PU College ground on 23rd November 2022 at 10:30 am. The tournament is organised to honour the former principal late Fr Jacob Carvalho, SJ. Renowned journalist Mr Louis Rodrigues has consented to be the chief guest for the inaugural function.
The literary events are being organised in memory of Dr Chaya Mehta who was a celebrated orator. To conscientize and spread the awareness about how poor are excluded at all fronts; Shri Chimanlal & Smt Mukta Shah Essay, Elocution and Quiz Competitions are geared towards including the ‘Socio-economically excluded.’ It would be thought-provoking to see how this will be brought out in the poignant essays and elegantly crafted speeches on 25th& 26th November 2022 respectively.
Our last year’s social initiative— Suraksha: Safeguarding the children from sexual abuse aimed at tackling Child abuse issues head-on and promoted child safety. Paryavarana is the socio-ecological project that the college has taken up to connect paryavarana to the people, this year. The flagship events of the Cultural Fest are Fashion Fiesta, Stand-up Comedy, Fun-Fusion of dances, and heavenly singing. We will witness its finale on 28th November 2022, and the OORJA 2022 of the participants will be something to watch out for.
